Apero Mix : The 100th !

Since summer 2006 i've been doing these "Apero mix" regularly, on a weekly basis. It's a good way to practice virtual djing, a way to explore and listen to recent releases, a way to give tracks some room and a place to fit in.I've been melting genres over the past years and did full color-style mixes too (house,techno,minimal,rock,electro-rock,downtempo,you name it) with really great pleasure.I usually do not post them because i like to keep the blog a place for well-crafted mixes, the ones that i work on before and after the actual mixing. But to celebrate the 100th's achievement i have decided to put one that i think is pretty neat.So if you take a look for one second at the tracklist you'll see what it's about :

Tracklist :

01.The XX - Islands (Delorean Remix)
02.Boys Noize - Transmission (Mr. Oizo Remix)
03.Royksopp - Happy Up Here (Boys Noize Remix)

Tron Legacy New Trailer (bits of the Daft Punk Soundtrack)

Here you can watch the new HD trailer of 'Tron Legacy' :

(Watch in higher resolutions here)

There isn't much as for the Daft Punk soundtrack but we can see where it is going. When you start to think anybody talented (Hans Zimmer,Steve Jablonksy Team for example) could have done this, they put some weird disconstructed saturate sounds that promises great Electro momentum.I'm now officially excited and that's not only because we see Olivia Wilde in a tight black leather suit.Wait what ?

Tron Legacy is to be released on December 17.Meanwhile you can take a new listen to 'Alive 2007' masterpiece with me on Blip.fm/twitter.

Dystopian Soundscape

I've created a mix fueled with samples from the most dystopian/post-apocalyptic/giant-badass-machine-boss movies.Originally conceived as a geek/sci-fi fanboy blind-test, it turned out a bit more of a short mix with a lot of mechanic voices, artificial flux of sounds and some music that could be from the future (if you close your eyes/open your mind enough). So here's the tracklist and the download link below (don't read it if you want to guess where the movies samples are from).

MACHINES WILL RISE

Tracklist :

01.Sample From 'Dexter'
02.Radiohead - Creep
03.Sample From 'Heroes'
04.The XX - Islands (Delorean Remix)
05.Sample From 'Matrix Revolutions'
06.BJ Nielsen - Scientia
07.Sample From 'War Of The Worlds'
08.Fear Factory - A Therapy For Pain
09.Sample From 'Terminator Salvation'
10.Unofficial Daft Punk Rework for the future 'Tron' movie (allegedly by Cryda Luv)
11.Sample From 'Transformers'
12.Boys Noize - Gax
13.Sample From 'Cloverfield'
14.Moderat - A New Error
15.Sample From 'Battlestar Galactica'
16.Jimmy Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower
17.Sample From 'Lost'

Total Length : 37'07

All tracks & samples mixed and edited by myself :)

Tron Legacy - Daft Punk Soundtrack

We all heard about the rumor of Daft Punk being involved in the new reboot Tron's film soundtrack.
As a reminder, Tron is a 1982 movie that used a lot of computer graphics and it's one of the thing that made it quite popular.Yeah, pre-CGI-era.
Here's a scene of the famous Light Cycles :

Anyway a sequel is on the road and will hit us on December this year.Check the trailer :

But the real deal here is of course the confirmed news (1) that Daft Punk will do the soundtrack. In fact they already give us a little hint at what it might look like at last year Comic-Con :

A fan reworked has been made too :

I think a darker tone will perfectly suit the Daft Punk compositions and put them at their best. That must be what they think too, if not why expressing the wish to do a live tour of it ?(2)
So we will cover any news from now on about the whole project.Following Alive 2007 'Best Electronic Album' could be 'Best Electronic Soundtrack Album And Tour'!

(1): http://www.imdb.com/news/ni0698168/
(2): http://pitchfork.com/news/36021-daft-punk-to-tour-behind-itron-legacyi-soundtrack/

P:S : Did if forgot to mention the gorgeous Olivia Wilde will be in the movie ?

30 Minutes of Randomness

First in a series, this is a 30' mix of random tracks as if some-rich-black producers came to me and said "play your best stuff right now" (yeah...whatever).Of Course it's hardly doable but i think constraints make the whole thing exciting as it pushes you to be shorter, fresher and maybe better.
No tracklist at the moment, the idea is to discover and to be surprised.I can write it down here later though.
I plan to do this, like once a month or more.First one is called "blue" and you can get it as usuals via Megaupload :

Anarkhan - 30 Minutes (Blue)

P.S : I must say that this little gem is still awesomely hypnotic.

Artworks : 2009 Cover Arts

As a reminder of what we listened and discovered this last year in electronic/rock music, here is a bunch of cover arts from albums that made their way into the top.Obviously it's totally subjective and useless (as music and graphics are both criteria here) but it does look good to see them compiled like this.

Dixon - Temporary Secretary (Innervisions)

Chromeo - Dj Kicks (Studio !K7)Au Revoir Simone - Still Night, Still Light (Moshi Moshi Records)

Retrospective : End Of Decade Mix

Here we go for 2010 : a fully edited 25-tracks new year's eve mix for post-celebrating the decade.Including some of the best abstract-hip-hop/downtempo tracks that i love from those past ten years towards the first 45'mn part.Followed up by some new disco sounds, mixed with actual techno/house and ending with fat-ass elecro rock.So basically you can lean on your most comfortable couch enjoying Peace Orchestra, then stand up and start moving your feets on Lifelike to finally drink on the dance floor completely naked shouting 'White Unicorn' lyrics all over the place...Maybe you won't but there is room for everybody in this.
So Enjoy!

Some video skills have to be mastered :)

Agoria : Libellules / Magnolia

Defenitely track of the month/year, this 12" will make you warm and ready to endure the december rigorousness.Obviously i'm not the first to say so :

"Libellules" is a piece of fragile, crystalline beauty spread across ten minutes. It's the techno equivalent of being wrapped in cotton wool and bounced across the alleys of your mind—effortless psychedelic dance music inspired as much by classic fairy tales and nursery rhymes as anything else. "Magnolia" is cut from much the same cloth but while it uses similar motifs, it's more intense and driving. It's difficult to make the claim that it's more dance floor-orientated than "Libellules" but it nonetheless complements it perfectly.

Already support by Josh Wink, Joris Voorn, Deetron, Ben Klock, Dixon, Laurent Garnier, Oxia, Will Saul, Michel Cleis, François K, Michael Mayer, Gui Borrato, James Holden, Dominik Eulberg, Gregor Tresher, Sascha, Nic Fanciulli & more !

Horizons (Mix)

A new mix in two part : first one is dedicated to minimal sweetness with chords, piano, silence, children's voices in the backgrounds and so on...Second part is more of a back-to-what-this-blog-was-all-about this last years and yes i'm talking about minimal techno as its core : groovy, subtle, repetitive sometimes even raw, this tracks evolves progressively into dark places, tubes, lazers, metal and shady voices. All of this is surrounded by something i like to do recently : movies sample! Here it's mostly from Jodie Foster filmography.
So enjoy!

Vitalic : Poison Lips Live

Live From Ce Soir Ou Jamais :

Official Video :

Posion Lips is a track from his last album "Flashmob" which is really great.Kinda stuck myself on repeat to "Terminateur Benelux".

'Wish granted. Our boy Arbez is back and he's got a danceable Enola Gay filled with subtlety bombs. Eponymous cut "Flashmob" feels like the bastard child of Justice and Lindstrom—detuned and headfucked, but not too far gone to exude shy thoughtfulness.'
